Steven McGovney has been making art since childhood. Trained in Design and Ceramics, Steven received an MFA from Otis Art Institute in 1973. He has worked in multiple media, but his focus is on the sculptural side of ceramics, with a whimsical flair.

McGovney currently teaches ceramics at Yavapai College, in addition to studio work. Steven says that “he is unfit for any other kind of work “and thanks his many collectors, including Bill Clinton and Terrence Stamp, “for letting me do what I do.”

His whimsical mixed media bird sculptures are shown in fine craft galleries nationwide, and he participates in several invitational shows throughout the year.
