Alan Brummell
Lawrence, Kansas

Alan Brummell has a B.A. in architecture, a B.S. in Art Education from Kansas State University, and a M.S. in Visual Arts Education from the University of Kansas. He studied ceramics under Angelo Garzio and Lee Davis. His professional career in pottery began in 1975.
All of his pieces are handmade either using the potter’s wheel or hand-built methods. The pieces are bisque fired, glazed, and glaze fired to a temperature of 2400 degrees in a natural gas kiln. A glaze firing takes about 16 hours and the pieces are allowed to cool for two days. Because the pottery is fired to such a high temperature, it is extremely durable.
All of Alan’s pottery is dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe.
