Santa Fe, New Mexico
Christina is a former Lawrence resident who moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico as part of her artistic journey; her studio and home sit on two acres of land overlooking the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. She is a weaver-turned-felter, and specializes in wet felted and nuno felted wearable art and home goods; she is also a soap maker and felts her soap so that they become colorful jewels. While Christina, who learned to weave at the Yarn Barn, has always loved fiber art and sewing, her life changed when she discovered felting. Within a short period of time her work has been accepted into prestigious galleries and she was one of seven U.S. felt makers who was chosen for the December 2014 "Focus on the U.S." special edition of the international magazine, Felt Matters. In addition to her art, Christina is a practicing cultural anthropologist. Her artistic inspirations include the forms she finds in nature, and the interplay between color and texture.
