Judhe Jensen of Wizards Toys Artworks, a pottery studio in Topeka, Kansas, is a mostly self-taught artist. She was raised on "old school horror" films, magazines, and comic books in Southern California. While other little girls were playing dolls, she was building rat fink and monster models and just never stopped. She has been selling artwork at art shows and the Renaissance Festivals around the country for the last 40 years. She begins her process by throwing the basic form on the wheel or slab roller and then sculpting her fantastical creations using a mixture of clay mediums from red or buff clay to white and colored porcelains. All of her functional pieces are fired to cone 5/6 and safe for microwave, dishwasher, and oven use. She considers her work to be functional 3D illustrations.
