Shawn Harris

Shawn Harris grew up living in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended the University of Utah studying painting, film making, and photography, graduating in 1995 with a BFA, photography emphasis. In 2003 he was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts grant which helped build a portfolio of work giving him confidence to move to a larger city. In 2008 he became a resident of a 35 person artist's community in San Francisco that came into existence in the late 1960's. Living with a group of professional artists in the city was a beautiful think tank, full of inspiration. Having developed his current aesthetic/language over eight years, he was ready to move out of the 'concrete jungle'. He now practices his art in a small town in Colorado, living in a house built in 1890, on the boarder of New Mexico
