Broski - Sculpture Hand Holding Two Red Hearts on Wire

The hand is a rough textured stoneware piece. Cathy Broski makes it a life-like representation through the detailed addition of fingernails. Floating above the hand on a metal wire, two hearts create a loving and meaningful sculpture. 

For more than three decades, Cathy Broski has been recognized for archetypal figures. Her love of these abstract figures took on a new life after a summer trip to Greece in her youth where they have remained an inspiration. Cathy gained an appreciation for the weathered and texture patina of found Grecian relics. She strives to replicate this look on her own pieces.

Cathy begins by throwing the base of stoneware clay on a potter's wheel and finishes the form by hand-building structure onto the clay. Then, pieces are finished with her own handmade glazes.
