Theroff is primarily a self-taught artist working in graphite, acrylic and watercolor.

She focuses on capturing the magic of nature through art so the viewer may revisit the feeling that being in nature brings. Much of her work focuses on birds, insects, and plants. Susan has also created work focused on the human figure utilizing nature symbolism and mythology to create a narrative. Her work is shown locally between Topeka and Lawrence, Kansas through various art shows, local galleries and can also be viewed on her website as well as various social media platforms. She earned her Bachelor of Science from William Jewell College and her Masters of Sociology from the University of Kansas. Susan describes herself as an eternal optimist who finds strength and renewal in nature. Susan resides on a small farm with her family in Northeastern Kansas where she maintains a studio practice as well as hosting creative workshops & farm tours for the local community.
