I was born in Kansas City and moved to Lawrence in 1984 to go to KU. While working on my business degree, I met my wife Julie, who was attending KU as well. In 1990 we opened Rudy’s Pizzeria, and in time raised two boys and made Lawrence our home. Along the way, we opened BDC Tattoo and Piercings as well. Both of the businesses have been on Mass Street for decades. In 2024, I discovered welding and metal art. I found the extreme heat of the summer and extreme cold of the winter were the only things that could stop me from creating. It is my absolute passion and my respite from my daily grind. I would love to retire and do nothing but make my art. That is the plan. Someday.
