Wild Handwoven
Becky Johnson
Lawrence, Kansas
Becky runs her one-woman studio, Wild Handwoven, at her home studio in Lawrence, Kansas. Color drives her process. She paints natural light yarn with mixed fabric dyes. The transformed painted yarn becomes the warp on her four-harness loom. When woven, these painted warps blend into a unique array of colors, producing timeless heirlooms that look as if they were passed down through generations. Every piece is washed, dried, and ready to be enjoyed. Use, wear, and time elevate the colors and textures of these one-of-a-kind textiles. Becky studied textile design at San Francisco State University. She grew up in rural Minnesota and lived in Boston, MA and Oakland, CA before landing here in Lawrence in 2006.
